Bungkusit is here to empower small businesses to go digital

Bungkusit interview series with Ikhwan: How Bungkusit empowers small businesses to go digital and supports them in the journey?

Muhammad Ikhwan is the Merchant Coordinator at Bungkusit. He helps merchants to register on the platform as well as maintains a good relationship with them. He identifies potential issues related to the merchant life-cycle and delivers solutions to these issues.

Read his interview as he shares the importance of supporting small businesses going digital.

What are your current goals in supporting your merchants and empowering small businesses to go digital?

My goal is to facilitate the digitalisation of small businesses by giving them a digital shopfront on the Bungkusit platform. We want them to feel included in the growing digital economy and by making that happen, we focus on providing exceptional customer service by being aware of their needs. We also provide detailed information from the beginning, such as delivery policies and other information for them to go digital. It’s all about making them happy, confident and satisfied with our service.

Have there been any changes, especially during the COVID-19, in helping them accelerate their entrance into the digital journey?

COVID-19, for sure, have affected small businesses, and we’ve made a choice to help the local economy stay afloat and give small businesses a fighting chance by helping them go digital. By joining Bungkusit, they can reach more audiences and increase their sales by using contactless deliveries. We also help them to learn more about the digital platform so they can bounce back from the economic upheaval of COVID-19.

And one thing for sure, the pandemic has taught us that we’re providing an essential service, so we need to ensure that we can provide this service reliably no matter the circumstances to the small businesses.

Was there any challenges, and if so, how did you help your merchants overcome them?

There are some basic challenges. Most of them usually ask about how to upload their products for the first time. But before we help them transition to a digital shopfront on the Bungkusit platform, we provide online training and tons of video tutorials on how to use Merchant Portal Bungkusit. We are putting in extra effort to improve their digital literacy. We want them to feel comfortable and confident when they use the portal.

Considering all the progress you made so far with your merchants, how do you see this process evolving?

Since the pandemic, there has been an increase in online shopping and contactless delivery methods. In the past, only merchants that have a physicla shop or an outlet registers their business with Bungkusit, but now even the street vendors and home-based businesses are more involved in going fully digital. They have adapted on the fly and changed their operating models to go digital, and part of their process is opening a digital front shop on Bungkusit. This is an exciting development for them and us. We are here to help small businesses not only survive these hard times but thrive in our changing world.

We are also going to start a webapp for the merchants, this is basically like a website which can be activated in 1 click. They get to have their own website, their own data and have full transparency on their customers and order unlike the other platforms out there who keep everything to themselves.

We want to empower these merchants by having 0% commission rates, giving them full transparency of their customers and giving them a set of tools for them to leverage on for marketing to their customers.
