However it is important to understand to balance a healthy diet. We are constantly surrounded by good food that is bad for our health in the long run. Our cravings to salty food needs to be maintained at a healthy level, moreover our sweet tooth as well. This is because if we don’t watch what we eat it can lead to obesity and other illnesses. Everyone knows that the morning breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Moreover it is important to maintain a balanced breakfast rather than carbo-loading as soon as you wake up.

This does not mean all the traditional malaysian dishes are like this. Furthermore this doesn’t mean that all beloved local dishes are unhealthy. Too much of anything that can be consumed is not good for you. It is important to understand to eliminate a portion of deep fried foods or even ask for more vegetarian options. While eating out at kopitiams, mamaks and streeside warungs it is important to pick menu options that contain natural products, vegetables and whole grains.

With other mixed ingredients which may include fried chicken or fried eggs it is definitely going to push you over the daily recommended calorie intake in one meal.

Instead you can choose a healthier cheaper option which is economy rice. Furthermore with economy rice you can opt in for some stir fried vegetables or steamed fish which is low in calories and can give a balanced protein diet.

No matter where we go fried chicken is available on the menu in malaysia. Fried chicken absorbs oil like a sponge.

One healthier alternative option instead of fried chicken is Tandoori chicken. Tandoori may be a bit expensive than fried chicken yes, but it’s more tasty and much more healthier.

Other Alternatives.

 

There are other small tips to keep in mind while eating out. It may not necessarily help out a lot but is definitely better than some unhealthy options.

 

• Go for grilled or steamed food rather than deep fried
• Use less sauce
• Request for less sweet drinks
• Lessen street snacks
• Instead of carbs, ask for less and more vegetables
